"Koenigs is the restaurant and they've been pulling them in for almost 50 years. It has a touch of class, Nelson Rockefeller dined there when he was Vice President... The inside has and is constantly having little touches added. The deep red carpets, plus striking carpeting on the walls, keep the noise level pleasant... One of our party of three (and this is probably par for the course) had thickly slicked, moist and most tender sauerbraten with red cabbage and small potato dumplings. Another ordered breaded pork chops (two hefty ones arrived) with sliced potato dumplings and creamed spinach made the German way, ultra finely chopped... For those thinking Oktoberfest, you'll find a wurst platter of knockwurst, bratwurst and bauern wurst, speck (bacon) salad and sauerkraut. There are wiener schnitzels prepared every which way..."
"THE BOTTOM LINE: Large, popular, well-managed German restaurant... Subdued German setting. Friendly service. Good German food - all the favorites plus some American continental."

| "Good food, with an emphasis on German cooking, is served in generous proportions. Prices are moderate and service is friendly... There was no time lapse between our arriving and attention being paid to us. Orders for above-average cocktails were taken right away... Entrees run the gamut from fish, to beef, to poultry, with a number of dishes featured each day of the week... We could not leave without sampling the apple strudel, a wam and flaky confection that was a perfect topping to a good night in Floral Park at Koenig's." |
